Align/center text in Adobe Illustrator 2022
To align/center text in Illustrator, select the text using the Selection Tool and then use the Paragraph panel to align/center the text. You can select any alignment option from the Paragraph panel and the text will be aligned accordingly.
Following are the detailed steps to align the text in Adobe Illustrator.
As you can see we have the following card and the text on it is not aligned. It is a birthday wishing card and we want to align the text so that it looks good and attractive.
Step 1: Select the text that you want to align.
We will align the top text to the left, with the middle text. Select the top text and middle text by holding the Shift key and both will be selected.
Note: You can decide the alignment, you want to apply to the text. Here we want to align the middle text to the center the top text to the left to align with the middle and the bottom line to the right to align with the middle text.
Here is the Align panel, which appears under the Properties panel on the right side of your workspace, when you select the text. This panel is going to be used to align the text. It can be extended and more options appear.
If you can’t see Align panel under the Properties then open it using the Window menu. Go to Window > Align.
Align panel will appear.
Step 2: Select Horizontal Align Left from the Align panel under the Align Objects section.
The top text is left aligned with the middle text.
Step 3: Now press & hold the Shift key and select the middle and bottom text using the Selection Tool.
Step 4: Select Horizontal Align Right from the Align panel under the Align Objects section.
The bottom text is now right aligned with the middle text as you can see.
Step 5: Select all lines of text while holding down the Shift key.
Step 6: Now select Vertical Distribute Center to have equal space between all the text lines.
All the texts have equal distances between now.
You can also center align all the text to the card, to do this select all the text by using the Shift key and click on each. All text boxes are selected.
Now group them together by pressing Ctrl+G or selecting the Group option under Quick Actions.
All the text is grouped.
Now select the main card and text by holding the Shift key.
How to Center Text in Illustrator
From the Align panel, select Horizontal Align Center and Vertical Align Center.
The text is now center-aligned with the card.
Paragraph Align in Illustrator
Adobe Illustrator also helps to align the paragraph using the Paragraph panel. In this panel, you can easily align the multiple lines of the text. The paragraph aligns available in Illustrator are Align left, Align right, and Align center.
The Paragraph panel appears as you select the text. It appears under the Properties panel on the right side of the workspace.
