Run your Adobe Illustrator on your windows or mac.
Select a canvas from the given sizes or you can also make one according to your requirements by clicking on Create New in the left corner.

A new document window will appear. Add width and height in the left corner and then click on Create. (You can also choose other settings from the Advanced options.)
Start by drawing an object(Rectangle, Circle, Ellipse, Polygon, or Star) onto the canvas.

Select the Scissor tool from the toolbar by long pressing on Erase tool and then select the scissor tool from the list or press C from the keyboard.
Place your tool onto the object’s path or anchor.
Click on the path, and then repeat the same process on another path or anchor point as you want to cut your object.
Now you can choose the Direct Selection tool or press A, or you can also choose the Selection tool or press V.
Then select your object, that has been split into a different shape.
