How to Add a New Artboard in Adobe Illustrator(4 ways)
In this tutorial, we have explained different ways to add a new artboard in Illustrator. You can select any method that is easy and quick for you. Let’s see all the methods.
1st Method: By Creating new
After you launch Adobe Illustrator, click on “Create New”.
The “New Document” window will appear.
Give a name to your artboard in the “Preset Details” section.
You can add any name to your artboard according to your work.
You can also adjust the width and height in pixels or any other format you need. You can select from the list that is next to height and width.
You can also select the orientation (Portrait or landscape) according to your work demand.
Add the number of artboards you want to create. You can add manually or change the decrease or increase buttons.
Click on Create and your artboard will be created.
(You can also go to the more settings button if you want to change or add further settings to your artboard.)
If you have already created an artboard and you want to add more artboards while working you can add more with the following methods.
2nd Method: By File Menu
Go to the “File” menu, from the drop-down list, select “New” or press “Ctrl+N” from the keyboard.
A new window will appear, add your desired settings and click on Create.
3rd Mehtod: Create Artboard from the Toolbar
Select “Artboard tool” from the left tools panel or press Shift+O from the keyboard.
Simply click and drag to create a new artboard that is required. You can create an artboard in any shape like a rectangle or square.
Your artboard will be created.
4th Method: Create Artboard from the Window menu
Go to the window menu, click to expand the list with multiple options, and select artboard.
From the newly opened window, click on “New artboard”.
A new artboard will be created.
Creating Duplicate from Existing Artboard
Select “Artboard tool” or press “Shift+O” from the keyboard.
Now press “Alt” and drag the artboard you want to duplicate.
If you want to exit from the “Artboard tool”, press ESC from the keyboard or select another tool from the left tools bar.
Creating Multiple Duplicates by Copy
If you want to select your artboard click on it or if you want to select multiple artboards, hold the Shift button and click on the artboard you want to select. Press Ctrl+C and then Ctrl+V to create more with the same design.
Customized Artboard Setting
If you want to change your artboard from settings, double-click on “Artboard tool”. The Artboard Options window will appear.
You can give the name to your artboard.
You can choose the present from the list according to your choice like the letter, legal or A4, etc.
You can also add width and height in pt according to your need.
You can also select the orientation of your choice.
Display options are also available, which help you to show the center mark.
You can also delete your artboard from the delete button if you want.
