To add a new layer click on the Create New Layer option in Illustrator.
Following are the detailed steps to create a new layer.
After launching Adobe Illustrator, we can see the layers panel on the right side.
Click on it and then the layers panel will open.
If the layers panel is not available we can also go to the “Window” menu and select “Layers” or press “F7” from the keyboard.”
In the layers panel, we can hide the layer by Toggling the visibility. As we click on the little eye icon all the designs on the artboard will be hidden.
We can also go to Outline mode by “Ctrl+Click” on the visibility option.
The layers panel also shows, how many layers are created within the artboard.
Layers and their assets can also be exported by the “Export” option.
Layers and their sublayers can also be created by the layer panel.
A layer can be deleted after selecting it from the layer panel and clicking on the “Delete Selection” button.
A layer can be edited by double-clicking on the layer. (But if we click on by default name, we can see the option to edit the name of a layer only). We can change the name of any layer in this panel.
We can choose any color from the drop-down list of many colors.
Here lock option is also available, we can check it if we want to lock our layer.
Click on OK to save all the changes or click on “Cancel” if we don’t want any changes for the selected layer.
