By Direct Selection tool:

Using the “Direct Selection tool” is also the easiest way to cut a circle in half.
Click on any “Anchor point” of the circle and press the “Delete key” from the keyboard.
A perfect half-circle is created.
4th Method:
By Using Knife tool:
Select the Knife tool from the left toolbar.

Press Alt from the keyboard and draw a straight line between the center of a circle or anywhere you want to cut the circle.
Start before the starting of the circle and end after the circle ends so that no part is skipped from the circle.)
Now select “Selection tool” or press “V” from the keyboard.

Select one part of the circle and you will see the circle is divided in half.
How to save the half-circle in your Adobe Illustrator?
If you want to save your half circle so that you don’t have to make one, again and again, the following is the procedure.
Go to Windows menu > Symbols.

A “Symbols” dialog box will appear.

Select your half-circle by the Selection tool and click on the lower bar containing the different options.
Click on the + icon, to add it.

Symbols options settings will appear.
Add a name and then “Export Type” to “Graphic”.

The symbol is added. Drag the symbol to your artboard for using it.
